Adrian Scarborough has been awarded Best Actor In A Supporting Role at this year’s Olivier Awards with MasterCard.

The victory marks his first win at the prestigious awards.

Pitched against James Laurenson, Hilton McRae and Lee Ross, Scarborough has taken home the award for his performance in Thea Sharrock’s production of After The Dance.

Staged at the National Theatre, which this year boasted an impressive 17 nominations in total, the stylish drama told the story of a group of socialites living in pre-war London whose glamorous lives begin to disintegrate as the country faces the impending Second World War.

Putting in a hilarious performance as lazy visitor John, Michael Billington, the Guardian’s chief theatre critic, said of the award-winning performance: “Adrian Scarborough is unimprovable as a parasitic house guest who acts as a Pinerotic raisonneur.”
