Sadler’s Wells announces spring/summer 2017 season

Sadler’s Wells have announced their spring/summer 2017 season, with an eclectic mix including tango, a Zulu ballet, circus and hip hop.

Dance icon Matthew Bourne returns to his roots for his company’s 30th anniversary, featuring a programme of fun and witty pieces that launched his career, with designs by long-time collaborator Lez Brotherston.

London fans can celebrate with Soho, a thrill ride of circus, street and theatre where glamour and sleaze rub shoulders in this diverse trip around the streets of the area. With the burlesque of the 50s, punk of the 70s and 90s rave, Soho is an upbeat celebration of London’s world famous district as we follow the journeys of the energetic and colourful characters who inhabit it.

For little ones, there is a family weekend in April, ajam-packed festival including performances, workshops, games and arts and crafts activities. Following successful tours of its previous children’s ballets and popular CBeebies adaptations, Northern Ballet is back with a new production for young children, Goldilocks & The Three Bears.

For those whose tastes don’t run to ballet; Breakin’ Convention, the world’s biggest festival of hip hop dance theatre, is back at Sadler’s Wells for its 14th year running. Curated and hosted by UK hip hop pioneer Jonzi D, there will exceptional performances, from world champion B-boy crews to cutting edge street dance companies, showcasing the best from around the world and around the corner.
