Siân Phillips is to join Will Young and Michelle Ryan in the highly anticipated revival of Rufus Norris’ Olivier Award-winning production of Cabaret this autumn.

The stage and screen star, whose extensive theatre credits include Hedda Gabler, St Joan and The Duchess Of Malfi in the West End, will play Fraulein Schneider, a role for which Sheila Hancock won an Olivier Award in Norris’ 2006 revival.

Phillips will be joined in the dark and decadent production by previous Cabaret cast member Harriet Thorpe, who reprises her role as Fraulein Kost following her appearance alongside Hancock in Norris’ original production.

Matt Rawle, who takes on the role of young American writer Cliff Bradshaw in the iconic musical, was last seen on the London stage in the Menier Chocolate Factory’s production of Pippin, but has also starred in West End musicals Martin Guerre, Evita and Zorro.

Screen actors Linal Haft (EastEnders) and Nicholas Tizzard (Doctors) complete the cast along with an ensemble including John Brannoch, Jessica Ellen, Allessia Lugoboni, Edd Mitton, Ian Parsons, Nuno Silva, Rebecca Sutherland, Shahla Tarrant, Laura Tyrer, Cydney Uffindell-Phillips and Matthew Wesley.

The musical tale of 19-year-old English cabaret star Sally Bowles and her relationship with the young writer during the Nazis’ rise to power in 1931 Berlin will play at the Savoy theatre for a 15-week run from 3 October.

Featuring music by John Kander and Fred Ebb, including songs Money Makes The World Go Around, Two Ladies and Maybe This Time, Cabaret will open at the Savoy theatre following the Tina Turner-inspired musical Soul Sister, which plays from 20 August to 29 September.
