National Theatre regulars Alfred Enoch, Peter De Jersey, Jacqueline Boatswain and Deborah Findlay will join Tom Hiddleston and Mark Gatiss in bringing Shakespeare’s political tragedy Coriolanus to the Donmar Warehouse this winter.

Broadchurch duo Peter De Jersey and Alfred Enoch will play Cominus and Titus Lartius respectively in the production, which plays at the acclaimed venue from 6 December to 8 February, with Thor star Hiddleston in the title role.

While De Jersey is well-known for his screen credits, which along with the popular David Tennant-led detective drama also include The Bill and Holby City, on stage the actor has appeared in numerous productions for the National Theatre and RSC as well as House Of Games at the Almeida theatre and Cat On A Hot Tin Roof in the West End.

Enoch, who joins fellow Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Harry Melling as actors from the popular wizarding franchise to take to the London stage this year, has previously made his theatrical mark on National Theatre productions of Timon Of Athens and Antigone.

Olivier Award-winning actress Findlay, who picked up one of London theatre’s most prestigious statuettes for her role in the 1997 production of Stanley, has previously appeared at the Donmar Warehouse in John Gabriel Borkman, The Cut and The Vortex, and now returns to the acclaimed venue in the role of Coriolanus’ mother Volumnia.

Currently appearing in Adult Supervision at the Park theatre, Boatswain will take on the role of Valeria in William Shakespeare’s searing tragedy following recent performances in the National Theatre’s acclaimed production of The Amen Corner and One Monkey Don’t Stop No Show at the Tricycle theatre.

Completing the cast are Hadley Fraser, whose credits include Les Misérables both on stage and in Tom Hooper’s blockbuster film, Rochenda Sandal, most recently seen on the London stage in the NT’s Scenes From An Execution, and Birgitte Hjort Sørenson, an actress best known for playing Katrine Fonsmark in Danish drama Borgen who has also appeared in Chicago in the West End.

Directed by the Donmar Warehouse’s Artistic Director Josie Rourke, Coriolanus will bring its tale of political manipulation and revenge to the venue following James Macdonald’s production of Roots, starring Jessica Raine, which opened to acclaim earlier this week.
