Morgan to star in Our Private Life

Published 7 January 2011

Merlin star Colin Morgan will make his Royal Court theatre debut in Our Private Life when it opens next month at the Sloane Square venue.

Our Private Life, which is presented as part of the International Playwrights Season, is written by Columbian playwright Pedro Miguel Rozo and directed by Lyndsey Turner.  Described as a “black comedy of twisted morality”, the play is set in a Columbian village. When a rumour spreads like wildfire through the community, a respectable family starts to wither in the heat. As long-buried secrets begin to surface, their efforts to discern truth from slander become fused with a desire for justice.

Morgan, who is best known for his title role in the BBC series Merlin, made his professional stage debut in 2007, starring in the acclaimed Young Vic adaptation of DBC Pierre’s Vernon God Little. The actor, who hails from Northern Ireland, also appeared at the Old Vic in All About My Mother and returned to the Young Vic in 2008 for A Prayer For My Daughter. Morgan’s other credits include appearances in television series The Catherine Tate Show and Doctor Who, and roles in upcoming films Island and Parked.

Our Private Life opens at the Royal Court Jerwood Theatre Upstairs on 18 February, with previews from 11 February, and runs until 12 March.
