The Lyric Hammersmith has announced its much talked about Secret Theatre season will continue next month with the suitably ambiguously titled Show 4.
For those that want to fully enter into the spirit of the theatre’s mysterious season, which has invited audiences to buy a ticket to a show they have no prior information, the only details you need to know are that Show 4 will play from 7 February to 8 March, and a post-show Q&A will be available for audiences to attend free of charge on 27 February.
For those hankering for spoilers, the theatre has revealed that the 20 strong ensemble of actors, directors, writers, designers and dramaturgs at the heart of the season are reuniting for this new production, which the website describes as “a story of power, corruption and revenge”.
Following classic reinterpretations of Woyzeck and A Streetcar Named Desire previously revealed to be playing under the titles Show 1 and 2, the venue has also announced this new offering will be a “new play of an old play by an exciting young writer”. As the theatre is still undergoing a major capital project, it will be staged somewhere in the theatre’s current building site-setting that the company has not yet been seen.
Commenting on the latest announcement from the season that proved to be one of 2013’s most controversial and opinion dividing theatrical events, the Lyric Hammersmith’s Artistic Director Sean Holmes said: “We now begin the second wave of Secret Theatre – encouraged by the reaction of our audiences, emboldened by our mistakes and excited about what comes next.”
