Michelle Ryan will make her West End musical theatre debut opposite Will Young in the revival of Rufus Norris’ hit production of Cabaret.

The decadent and darkly comic production will play at the Savoy theatre from 3 October for a strictly limited run, following a four-week UK tour.

EastEnders star Ryan will take on the starring role of Sally Bowles, a role made famous by Liza Minnelli in the 1972 Oscar-winning film adaptation of Kander and Ebb’s musical, which is based on John van Druten’s play I Am A Camera and author Christopher Isherwood’s semi-biographical story.

Set in 1931 Berlin in the infamous and sleazy Kit Kat Club – where Young will play the flamboyant Emcee – Cabaret centres on the relationship between 19-year-old English cabaret star Bowles and a young American writer Cliff Bradshaw, and is set against a changing and dangerous political backdrop with the Nazis rising to power.

Ryan first entered the public eye with her long-running role as Zoe Slater in BBC soap opera EastEnders. After leaving the drama the actress found success in Hollywood, winning the leading role in TV series The Bionic Woman. Since then Ryan has appeared on British television in Mansfield Park, Doctor Who, Miss Marple and Jekyll, and in films Cleanskin and Huge.

Following her 2005 stage debut in the King’s Head theatre’s Who’s The Daddy, Ryan will make her premiere musical performance in a musical that features a host of iconic songs including Money Makes The World Go Round, Cabaret, Maybe This Time and Two Ladies.
