In rehearsal: Barking In Essex

With its first preview just two weeks away, photographer Alastair Muir took a peek inside rehearsals for Barking In Essex to give us the first glimpse of Essex’s most dysfunctional family in action.

The English county’s most notorious gangster Algie Packer is set to wreak hilarious amounts of havoc at the Wyndham’s theatre from 6 September to 4 January as he seeks to regain his £3,672,000 booty following seven years banged up at Her Majesty’s pleasure.

Led by comedian-turned-actor Lee Evans and West End veteran Sheila Hancock, the cast looks focused, contented and just a little barking as they get into character for Clive Exton’s comedy with the help of director Harry Burton.

Take a look at our gallery above to see the trio hard at work with the rest of the cast, which includes Keeley Hawes, Karl Johnson and Montserrat Lombard, as they prepare to take to the West End stage in a fortnight.
