Pinter One and Pinter Two: in rehearsals

Marking the 10th anniversary of the revered playwright’s death, the remarkable Pinter at the Pinter season begins tonight at the Harold Pinter Theatre, in a landmark theatrical event.

Featuring all of Pinter’s short plays, alongside a selection of his poems and sketches, the season’s cast is truly world-class. Take, for example, the first two line-ups: Pinter One (One For The Road/The New World Order/Mountain Language/The Pres And The Officer/Ashes To Ashes) and Pinter Two (The Lover/The Collection) star the likes of Antony Sher, Kate O’Flynn, Paapa Essiedu, and Maggie Steed, and David Suchet, Hayley Squires, Russell Tovey, John Macmillan, respectively.

The event is also unparalleled in scope, with every short play performed in the theatre bearing Harold Pinter’s name. Just take a look at the star-studded snaps from the rehearsal room below.

The season will be presented in repertoire by a world-class cast, many of whom were Harold Pinter’s friends and frequent collaborators. The cast includes Keith Allen, Jessica Barden, Ron Cook, Phil Davies, Danny Dyer, Paapa Essiedu, Lee Evans, Martin Freeman, Rupert Graves, Tamsin Greig, Jane Horrocks, Celia Imrie, John Macmillan, Emma Naomi, Tracy Ann Oberman, Kate O’Flynn, Jonjo O’Neill, Abraham Popoola, Antony Sher, John Simm, Hayley Squires, Maggie Steed, David Suchet, Meera Syal, Luke Thallon, Russell Tovey, Penelope Wilton and Nicholas Woodeson.

Also forming part of the season, Mark Rylance will make two special charity performances of Art, Truth and Politics, Pinter’s Nobel Prize Lecture, in aid of the Stop the War Coalition.
