Alligators at the Hampstead Theatre

Hampstead unveils Alligators casting

First Published 9 June 2017, Last Updated 9 June 2017

The Hampstead Theatre has today announced casting for returning drama Alligators, a Hampstead Downstairs Original written by Andrew Keatley (The Gathered Leaves, Park Theatre).

Directed by Simon Evans, the searing thriller asks how well we actually know those closest to us, and explores how shameful secrets, even those assumed long buried, can come back to bite us.

It centres on teacher Daniel Turner, a man who has it all: a devoted wife, two beautiful children and a happy working life. But a series of allegations from six years earlier may yet come back to haunt him – can all the good he’s done be erased by one pointed finger? How can his loved ones doubt his innocence and can life ever be the same again?

Alec Newman (Bug, Found111) plays Daniel, with Tillie Murray (The Sound Of Music, UK tour) as Genevieve, Lucia Peragine (The American Wife, Park Theatre) as Rachel, Susan Stanley (TOMCAT, Sothwark Playhouse) as Sally, Ony Uhiara (Anna Karenina, Royal Exchange) as Cathy and Leah Whitaker (Love’s Labours Lost, RSC/West End) as Rachel.

Alligators is one of three Hampstead Downstairs Originals which open this spring. Following an initial development run at Hampstead Downstairs, the newly revised Deposit opened at Hampstead Theatre in May, and Kiss Me is now playing at Trafalgar Studios.

Simon Evans’ recent credits include The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui and Silence Of The Seas (Donmar Warehouse), as well as The Dazzle, Bug, and Fool For Love (all at Found111).

Alligators plays at the Hampstead Downstairs from 22 June – 22 July 2017, with press night on Wednesday 28 June 2017.

You can book your tickets through the venue’s website.
