Olivier Award winner Giles Terera and critically acclaimed actress Lucy Briers will join Tom Burke and Hayley Atwell in the Rosmersholm cast, with the West End revival due to start performances next month.

Directed by former Royal Court Artistic Director Ian Rickson, Rosmersholm will also star Jake Fairbrother (Lady From The Sea, Donmar) as Peter Motensgaard and Peter Wight (The Birthday Party, West End) as Ulrik Brendel, along with Terera (the West End’s original Aaron Burr in Hamilton) as Andreas Kroll, Briers (Wolf Hall, West End and Broadway) as Mrs Helseth and the previously announced leading duo Burke (The Musketeers and War & Peace, BBC) and Atwell (Agent Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – playing Rebecca West).

This new update of Ibsen’s tale of power and politics is penned by Duncan Macmillan, who wrote the brilliant West End dramas People, Places And Things and 1984.

The show centres on John Rosmer (Burke), holed up in Rosmersholm, the grand house of an influential dynasty. But with his country on the brink of chaos, will Rosmer opt to dream of a better future – or be destroyed by the ghosts of his past?

Rosmersholm will also feature set and costumes by Rae Smith, lighting by Neil Austin, music by Stephen Warbeck, sound by Gregory Clarke and casting by Amy Ball.

The show will preview at Duke of York’s Theatre from 24 April, with official opening night on 2 May.
