Dusty Springfield fans will know exactly what to do with themselves next month when Dusty, a new multimedia show celebrating the 60s pop icon’s music, receives its world premiere at the Charing Cross Theatre.

The brand new production will begin a 13-week run at the London venue on 25 May (press night 3 June), playing until 22 August.

Springfield lovers will be wishin’ and hopin’ for all the singer’s greatest hits as the artist – and her music – is brought to life on stage with a combination of cutting edge 3D technology, digital media, live performance, music and dance.

Featuring recently discovered film footage, Dusty will chart the highs and lows of Springfield’s journey from middle class suburban London to the recording of her first album through the eyes of her childhood friend Nancy Jones and other key figures in her life.

The production is written by Kim Weild and Duncan Sibbald with direction from Chris Cowey. Casting is still to be announced.

Dusty follows in the footsteps of another London show featuring the music of an equally legendary singer who rose to fame in the 60s. Beautiful – The Carole King Musical, which celebrates the life and work of singer-songwriter Carole King, is nominated for eight awards at this year’s Olivier Awards with MasterCard and is currently booking at the Aldwych Theatre until 13 June.
