Following an overwhelming response, Kneehigh’s stage adaptation of Noël Coward’s romantic film, Brief Encounter, has been extended. The smash-hit show adapted and directed by Emma Rice will now run until 9 September 2018 at the Empire Cinema Haymarket in London’s West End before going on a World tour in 2019.

The haunting love story tells the tale of a chance meeting in a railway station café. Two people are brought together when one gets “a little piece of grit in my eye”. The fateful event leads to one of the most heartbreaking love stories ever told.

The mixed-media show uses the romance of cinema and the energy of live theatre to tell the magical, passionate, surprising, suggestive and naughty show.

The award-winning production was originally produced at Birmingham Repertory Theatre before having a triumphant run in the West End in 2008. It has subsequently received great critical acclaim on Broadway and its toured the world.

Since, its run at the restored Empire Cinema Haymarket, the unique production has received rave reviews by critics and audiences.

The cast features Jim Sturgeon as Alec, Isabel Pollen as Laura, Lucy Thackeray as Myrtle, Beverly Rudd as Beryl, Jos Slovick as Stanley and Dean Nolan as Fred/Albert, with Katrina Kleve and Peter Dukes.
