Audience Award 2016: Sunny Afternoon

First Published 7 March 2016, Last Updated 11 March 2016

This time last year, Sunny Afternoon was just weeks away from a quartet of Olivier Award wins. The new British musical about an iconic British band – The Kinks – started life at Hampstead Theatre before transferring to the West End, winning huge acclaim and the coveted MasterCard Best New Musical statuette.

One year on and the original stage version of The Kinks, including Olivier winners John Dagleish and George Maguire, may have broken up, but a new line-up are in place and going as strong as ever, bringing audiences to their feet with songs including Waterloo Sunset, Lola, You Really Got Me and Dedicated Follower Of Fashion.

London’s new Ray Davies, Danny Horn, took time out from the hit show to tell us what he thinks makes the production so special and why it deserves your vote in the race for the Magic Radio Audience Award.

Sunny Afternoon is booking at the Harold Pinter Theatre to 25 June. You can book tickets through us here.

Voting for the Magic Radio Audience Award has now closed.
