The acclaimed production of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons, which stars Zoë Wanamaker and David Suchet, has proved such a hit that its run at the Apollo theatre has been extended until 2 October.
The production, described by the Daily Telegraph as “A classic production never to be forgotten”, opened in May and was originally expected to close on 11 September.
All My Sons stars Suchet as Joe Keller, a man alleged to have caused the death of World War II pilots by supplying fighter planes with defective engines. One of his own sons, himself a pilot, is thought to have been killed in action. His mother (Wanamaker) can’t accept his death, nor can she accept his fiancée (Jemima Rooper) transferring her affections to his brother (Stephen Campbell Moore). As tempers become frayed, a family secret is exposed.
Writing about the production, Official London Theatre’s Caroline Bishop said: “Every ounce of heartbreaking poignancy is squeezed out of Arthur Miller’s tale of family tragedy in Howard Davies’s revival.”
