ABBA has written new music… and our fingers are crossed

It was announced today that legendary pop group, ABBA, have written and recorded two brand new songs for the first time since they split 35 years ago. The new compositions are the result of their work on the Avatar tour and the accompanying TV special. We are yet to hear the musical offerings of the Swedish band, but we can’t help but ask the question, is another musical on its way?

Of course, the music of ABBA has already been used in Mamma Mia! and Chess was written by bandmates Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus so another stage show wouldn’t be a complete surprise. Especially when you consider that there are plans for a brand new theatre to be built on the South Bank for Mamma Mia! The Party.

So maybe it’s wishful thinking. Maybe we’re just yelling ‘gimme, gimme, gimme’. But we’re laying all our love on ABBA right now and have a dream that they continue their musical theatre reign.

Get in the mood for the new ABBA songs by booking tickets for Mamma Mia! or Chess.
