The world’s first Cinderella story from China arrives at the Polka Theatre, bringing with it the tale of a young orphaned girl, her nasty stepmother, a missing shoe and a few unconventional surprises.

Will Yeh Shen be able to attend the New Year Festival? Will she ever find happiness? And how can a fish, a dragon and a horse help her?

The story is brought to life with puppetry, live music and the excitement of the Chinese Spring Festival in a new version from the company behind 2013’s Why the Lion Danced.

The tale of Yeh Shen first appeared in ninth century China, more than 1,000 years before the first European Cinderella.

This show is suitable for children aged six and older.
