Jonathan Kent’s celebrated new production of Sweeney Todd is now entering its final unforgettable weeks. Hailed as “one of the greatest musicals of all time” (Daily Telegraph), featuring two world class performances from Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton.

Ball plays the demon barber of Fleet Street in this musical tale of terrifying trims and repugnant pies.

Set in the grubby side streets of London town, master tunesmith Stephen Sondheim tells the terrifying story of the horrendous hairdresser Sweeney Todd’s quest for justice and retribution after years of false imprisonment. He is helped on his bloodthirsty journey to avenge the wrongs done to him and his family by local pie-shop owner Mrs Lovett, played by the inimitable Imelda Staunton.

Ball is one of Britain’s leading and best-loved musical theatre stars. An Olivier Award winner and multi-platinum recording artist, his revelatory transformation into the Demon Barber has been called “the performance of his life” (Daily Mail).

Academy Award® nominee and BAFTA-winner Staunton, best known for her acclaimed performances in the Harry Potter films, Cranford and Vera Drake, is astonishing as Mrs Lovett.

Prior to its run at London’s Adelphi theatre, Sweeney Todd was staged at Chichester Festival theatre. It is suitable for theatregoers aged 12 and older.

Sweeney Todd is presented in the West End by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Limited on behalf of Music Theatre International of New York.
