Based on the controversial 19th century novel by Frank Wedekind, Spring Awakening is a new musical which sets the sexual awakening and passions of three teenagers against a backdrop of religious and parental repression. The period setting is retained, but a contemporary rock score brings the show bang up-to-date, and serves to express the private anguish and ecstasy of the young characters.

Spring Awakening was a Tony Award-winning success when it premiered on Broadway. This UK production, created by the entire Broadway creative team, was first seen at the Lyric Hammersmith with a young British cast specially selected for the show, many of them making their professional stage debuts. The adults roles in the show are played by actors Sian Thomas and Richard Cordery.

The musical now transfers to the Novello theatre with the same cast and a new pricing structure which includes reduced price tickets on best seats for 15 to 19 year-olds.

Due to some strong language, Spring Awakening is recommended for ages 14+
