In this show of two parts, Donald tells tales of his early life in a talented, eccentric and dysfunctional Newcastle family, details the birth of the national treasure that is Viz, with a series of hilarious anecdotes charting the comic’s rise from 150 copies sold in a Gosforth pub in 1979 to 1.25 million flying out of Britain’s newsagents by the end of the 1980s. He also appears on stage as five different comic characters, which he has created since taking to the stage full-time as a stand-up comedian in 2008.
