Poets’ Manifesto is a theatrical experience using spoken word and theatre, where the true voices and opinions of young people on the issues of equality and discrimination are weaved into an original story. Bringing alive a world with a cast of memorable characters where poetry and creativity is banned.

The young people aged fourteen to twenty-five acted as ambassadors and asked their peers what vision they have for Newham’s future. They then developed their own responses around the themes of diversity and equality.

Working with leading performance poet Kat Francois their poems have been brought together to create a manifesto for young people unlike any other you may have come across before.

Poets’ Manifesto is one of the outcomes of Theatre Royal Stratford East and the Swan Foundation joining forces to find a new way of inspiring young people in Newham to get involved with politics and their local community.
