In Not By Bread Alone, eleven deafblind actors share their stories and play out their dreams as they knead, leaven and bake bread onstage.

Joyous, funny and heartbreakingly powerful, Not By Bread Alone has taken two years in the making. With no way of seeing or hearing their fellow actors, the cast have had to develop new methods of onstage communication, relying on touch and trust to produce a matchless work of passion and co-operation.

Nalaga’at, which presents Not By Bread Alone, is the world’s first deafblind theatre company.

Not By Bread Alone plays as part of LIFT 2010. It is suitable for theatregoers aged 9 and older, and is surtitled in English.
