One midsummer’s night, a band of amateur actors led by Nick Bottom staged their first ever play. It was so bold, so brilliant and so chaotic that it went down in theatre history.

Now these actors – known as the Mechanicals – are back to perform their latest masterpiece, and with half an hour to go until curtain-up, everything is in hand. The actors are (almost) assembled, the play is (nearly) rehearsed, and the audience (that’s you!) are ready. What could possibly go wrong? Everything, it turns out.

The Olivier Award-nominated 2022 production returns to the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse for more side-splitting fun and mayhem this summer. It’s a perfect first experience of Shakespeare’s plays.

A co-production with Splendid Productions, Midsummer Mechanicals is recommended for everyone from age 5 to 105.
