The Marriage Of Figaro continues the story begun in the Barber Of Seville, with which it is running in tandem. This comic opera is packed with maritial infidelity and farcical misunderstandings, although the undercurrent of revolutionary intrigue and the humiliation of Establishment figures made the opera controversial when it was first staged.
