Jerry Herman’s heart-wrenching love story set in the era of silent movies follows the relationship of director Mack Sennett, creator of the Keystone Cops, and comedienne Mabel Normand. When Normand arrives on Sennett’s set, he immediately notices and falls for her. Together they go on to create cinematic gold, though the relationship isn’t quite what Sennett hopes it would be.

Mack & Mabel features David Soul and Janie Dee in the lead roles, along with a cast of actor/musicians, and was originally staged at the Watermill theatre. Soul is best known for his role in classic cop series Starsky and Hutch, though his international recording career has included two No.1 singles: Don’t Give Up On Us Baby and Silver Lady. Soul was last in the West End playing the eponymous talk show host in Jerry Springer The Opera.

Two-time Laurence Olivier Award winner Dee – Best Supporting Performance in a Musical for Carousel, Best Actress for Comic Potential – has a host of West End credits to her name. Most recently she starred in Betrayal at the Duchess.
