The acclaimed Swedish film about a young vampire and a bullied schoolboy, Let The Right One In, receives a stage adaptation by the equally lauded National Theatre of Scotland.

Bullied teenager Oskar live on a housing estate with his mother. His new neighbour Eli doesn’t go to school and never leaves the flat by day. As a run of deaths hits the neighbourhood, Oskar and Eli become closer and closer friends. But Oskar does not know that Eli has been a teenager far longer than he has.

This vampire myth, both touching and vicious, began life as a novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist, who also wrote the screenplay for the Tomas Alfredson-directed film.

Playwright Jack Thorne, who created this stage adaptation, is a graduate of the Royal Court’s Young Writers programme who makes his debut at the venue with this production. Elsewhere his theatre credits include Mydidae, When You Cure Me and Bunny. He has also written for TV series The Fades, This Is England 88 and This Is England 86.

Let The Right One In plays at the Royal Court prior to a planned West End transfer in 2014.
