Footloose tells the story of city boy Ren who has to move to a rural backwater in America where dancing is banned. All hell breaks out as Ren breaks loose and soon has the whole town on its feet.

As writer of countless top ten hits for artists as diverse as Cher, Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross and Bette Midler, and responsible for record sales over the fifty million mark, Dean Pitchford was the man behind the movie (starring Kevin Bacon and Sarah Jessica Parker), writing the story, screenplay and lyrics. His passion for the filmic dance-fest that was Footloose saw him take it to the next level – a stage adaptation with Walter Bobbie, turning the hit film into an all-singing, all-dancing, high-energy musical.
