With the help of an ex-pat American private eye, Julian Lucas trawls the city of Shanghai in search of his missing daughter Alex, exploring everything from the seedy vice industry to the sublime Yue Opera. As he follows his daughter’s trail through the darker side of local life, he finds the two extremes begin to blur as life imitates art.
