February 1452. Scotland is in the midst of an identity crisis and the nation has lost faith in the Stewart monarchy. While the strange King James II hides away in Edinburgh Castle the people have come to prefer the Earl of Douglas and the handsome warriors’ ever-growing alliance. In a move of great impudence, Douglas has captured McLellan, a relative of the king.

If he dies, civil war and an overthrown king will surely follow. It is time for James to become the King that his wife, mother and countrymen expect him to be.
