Bagpuss is a brand new stage adaptation of the 1974 children’s television programme about a saggy old cloth cat who lived in a shop. When Bagpuss’s owner Emily leaves the shop, the pink and cream striped cat and his toy friends – including Gabriel the toad, Madeleine the rag doll and Professor Yaffle the woodpecker book-end – come to life.

This new show sees the much-loved characters brought to the stage in a production suitable for children aged seven and under – and their nostalgic parents.

Bagpuss continues Soho theatre’s recent tradition of presenting family shows at Christmas, following Julia Donaldson’s Stick Man and Lauren Child’s That Pesky Rat. Its producing partner, Birmingham Stage Company, has a wealth of experience creating children’s shows, including Skellig, the Horrible Histories and many adaptations of Roald Dahl books
