Antonio Pappano is joined in this one-off concert by Thomas Hampson, Joseph Calleja, Joyce DiDonato and Vasko Vassilev.

Pappano is now in his seventh season with The Royal Opera. Acclaimed for his interpretation of the Italian repertory in particular, Pappano has also ranged from Wagner to Berg, each time showing subtle skill in accompanying singers.

American baritone Thomas Hampson’s association with the Royal Opera House began in 1993 when he made his debut as Figaro (Il Barbiere Di Siviglia). He is currently singing the role of Giorgio Germont (La Traviata) for the first time at Covent Garden.

Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja made his Royal Opera debut as the Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto) in 2002. He is currently singing Alfredo (La Traviata) for The Royal Opera.

American mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato made her debut with The Royal Opera in 2003 as Fox in The Cunning Little Vixen and sang the role of Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) earlier in the 2008/9 Season. She is currently rehearsing the role of Rosina (Il Barbiere Di Siviglia), which she created in the original production at the Royal Opera House in 2006.

Bulgarian violinist Vasko Vassilev was appointed the first Concert Master of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House in 1995 and Creative Producer of the Royal Opera House in 2005. He is also Artistic Director of Laureate and of the London Chamber Orchestra. He is currently performing in La Traviata under the baton of Antonio Pappano.
