Star of BBC dramas White Heat and Upstairs Downstairs, Claire Foy is to return to the London stage in Mike Bartlett’s Love, Love, Love.
Foy will star alongside Ben Miles, Victoria Hamilton, Sam Troughton and George Rainsford in the award-winning story spanning from the 60s to today when it opens at the Royal Court in April.
Bartlett’s drama was first seen in 2010 in a co-production between the Drum theatre, Plymouth and Paines Plough that won the Theatre Awards UK Best New Play Award. It follows the fortunes of a relationship sparked during the 60s to the realities of life for the baby boomer generation today.
Before landing high-profile screen roles, actress on the rise Foy previously appeared on stage as part of the Connections season at the National Theatre. In her co-stars she has fine examples of how to build a career moving between the two media.
Hamilton has balanced performances in London productions including Twelfth Night, King Lear and Suddenly Last Summer with TV performances including Pride And Prejudice and Lark Rise To Candleford.
Hamilton’s Lark Rise co-star Miles has previously appeared in Bartlett’s My Child at the Royal Court and The Norman Conquests at the Old Vic, while also appearing in Coupling and Cold Feet on TV.
Royal Shakespeare Company regular Troughton is best known to TV family audiences from Saturday evening performances as Robin Hood’s sidekick Much, while Rainsford has screen credits in Call The Midwife and Waking The Dead, and stage appearances in Days Of Significance (RSC) and All’s Well That Ends Well (National Theatre).
Love, Love, Love, which is directed by Paines Plough’s Artistic Director James Grieve, opens at the Royal Court following the run of current hit In Basildon, which follows a family brought together over a death bed, each with their eyes on the will.
