The Menier Chocolate Factory production of Sweet Charity, which stars Tamzin Outhwaite in the title role, is to close at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on 6 November, following a six-month West End run.
The Matthew White-directed production of the Neil Simon musical originally opened at the intimate Menier Chocolate Factory in November 2009 before becoming the latest in a string of hit musicals from the off-West End theatre to transfer to a West End venue.
Sweet Charity, which features music by Cy Coleman and lyrics by Dorothy Fields, follows the misadventures of the naïve Charity Hope Valentine, a woman who always gives her heart and her dreams to the wrong man. Its famous score includes songs such as Hey Big Spender, If My Friends Could See Me Now and The Rhythm Of Life.
The musical, which also stars West End regulars Mark Umbers, Josefina Gabrielle and Tiffany Graves, was due to run until January 2011. The production that will follow Sweet Charity is yet to be announced.
