Aspiring opera stars are being given the chance to perform live to a packed Trafalgar Square as part of the Royal Opera’s BP Summer Big Screens.
The Royal Opera has launched a search for two talented amateurs, one male and one female, to entertain the gathered crowd during the interval of the screening of La Traviata on 30 June.
The best undiscovered Domingos will be given a backstage tour of the Royal Opera House and a vocal masterclass before making their debuts in Trafalgar Square.
Talented singers who wish to enter the competition should simply record themselves singing their favourite aria and send the DVD to the Royal Opera or upload it to the BP Aria YouTube channel. Entrants must be 18 or older, amateur and singing an aria from an opera.
In addition to La Traviata, the BP Summer Big Screens season includes the Royal Ballet production of Ondine (3 June) and the Royal Opera production of The Barber Of Seville (15 July). Full information of the season and the competition can be found at www.roh.org.uk/bpbigscreens
