August is nearly here which means that Edinburgh is about to transform into the largest arts festival in the world. There are actually several festivals that happen all at once each August in Edinburgh, including the Edinburgh International Festival, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the Art Festival and more.
Just like the rest of the year, you can use your Theatre Tokens to book at a number of theatres across Edinburgh as well as using them towards shows taking part in some of the festivals.
Edinburgh International Festival
7-30 August
The 2026 Edinburgh International Festival (EIF) is an invitation to All Rise. It’s a rallying cry to artists and audiences to stand with the belief that through artistic endeavour, we will see each other more truthfully and more tolerantly.

Underbelly at the Edinburgh Fringe
5-31 August
For over 25 years, Underbelly has brought a mix of circus, comedy, theatre, cabaret and music, plus buzzing bars and mouth-watering food, in the heart of the city.
Underbelly at the Edinburgh Fringe features a staggering 185 shows across multiple venues and four sites: George Square, Circus Hub on the Meadows, Cowgate, and Bristo Square.

TravFest26
31 Jul – 30 Aug
TravFest26 brings together work by emerging, mid‑career and internationally acclaimed playwrights, affirming the Traverse’s role as Scotland’s national new writing company and a place where bold ideas and voices begin, are nurtured and are celebrated.
TravFest takes place across two stages at the Traverse Theatre and all shows can be booked with Theatre Tokens by calling 0131 228 1404.
Edinburgh Playhouse
The Edinburgh Playhouse will be hosting comedians Daniel Sloss, Michelle Wolf, Connor Burs and Troy Hawke across August, along with a special Forth At The Fringe event that features a selection of must-see acts from across the Fringe Festival.

Fringe With Spice
Following a prize-winning proof of concept in 2025, With Spice is back and bigger in 2026.
The campaign, built to connect global majority artists and audiences, offers a free editorial magazine (Theme: A Celebration of Global Majority in the Performing Arts) as well as a £15 limited edition guidebook (With Spice – The 2026 Edition) that helps to promote global majority artists performing in Edinburgh this August.
The campaign also backs the audience powered website Oommoo.com, focussing on global majority shows in Edinburgh with audience reviews.
