Based in a unique court room setting inside London’s County Hall, Agatha Christie’s Witness For The Prosecution is a landmark production of a gripping story of justice, passion and betrayal. Majestic foyer and bar areas and a spacious auditorium offer excellent ventilation and space for audiences to relax and enjoy this classic thriller.

With the audience thrillingly placed in the thick of the action in a spectacular location, this is the first major London production of a play written by Agatha Christie to open since the 1960s, going on to be recognised at the Olivier Awards 2018 with Mastercard with a nomination for Best Revival.

Directed by Lucy Bailey (Comus, The Graduate), Witness For The Prosecution is a thrilling roller coaster of a play which opens in The Chamber, and sees audiences subject to the intensity and drama of a fiercely contested trial.

Leonard Vole is accused of murdering a widow, Emily French, to inherit her wealth. The stakes are high. Will Leonard survive the shocking witness testimony, which sees accusations levelled from where he least expected them? Will he be able to convince the jury of his innocence? Can he escape the ultimate fate: the hangman’s noose?

Witness For The Prosecution was originally published as a short story called Traitor Hands in 1925, before being republished as Witness For The Prosecution in the collection The Hound Of Death, released solely in the United Kingdom. It was finally published internationally in the collection The Witness For The Prosecution And Other Stories in 1948.

Having first been performed as a play in London in October 1953, this new theatrical production has been developed with the support and involvement of the Christie family. Don’t miss this landmark stage story on London’s Southbank.
