When Sophie and her Mummy answer the door to a huge stripy tiger and invite him in for tea, they don’t bargain on quite how hungry he is. As he raids the cupboards and guzzles snacks, chaos unfolds. What will Daddy say when he gets home??

The Tiger Who Came To Tea is back for Christmas this year, running at Theatre Royal Haymarket from 9 December 2019 until 19 January 2020.

Delighting children and nostalgic adults alike, the Olivier Award-nominated production is based on the beloved classic picture book written by Judith Kerr OBE. The Tiger Who Came To Tea is one of Britain’s most fondly revered children’s books and has been enjoyed by generations of children and parents for over 50 years.

The Tiger Who Came To Tea is adapted and directed by David Wood OBE, the UK’s leading writer and directors of children’s plays. Featuring Jocelyn Zackon as Sophie, Stephanie Summers as Mummy and David Scotland as Daddy/ Milkman/Postman/Tiger, the production is celebrating its 11th anniversary on stage this year, and this will be its 6th West End run.

The return of the Tiger Who Came To Tea to the West End coincides with a recently announced animated adaption of the story due to air on Channel 4 over the festive period. The Christmas special is packed full of huge names, including Benedict Cumberbatch, David Oyelowo, Tamsin Greig, Paul Whitehouse and David Walliams.

The Tiger Who Came To Tea is full of sing-a-longs and interactive fun, all sprinkled with an extra helping of imaginative magic. The show even contains impressive illusions and slight of hand designed by the President of the Magic Circle, Scott Penrose.

The production is perfect for the whole family and recommended for children from three and above. Pop along for a Christmas treat, but maybe don’t come hungry!
