Delighting audiences for 23 years, the enchantingly beautiful The Snowman is a London festive theatre favourite.

Based on the illustrated book of the same name, published over 40 years ago, The Snowman in the West End is the story of a winter wonderland, and a boy and his snowy companion.

It’s Christmas Eve, and adventure beckons for one young boy when his snowman springs miraculously to life. Along his journey he’ll encounter a dazzling array of colourful characters including dancing penguins, a beautiful snow princess, her wicked beau Jack Frost, and, of course, Father Christmas himself.

The Snowman is based on the book by Raymond Briggs, which was first published in 1978 in the United Kingdom. Its award-winning reception lead to it being adapted into a twenty-six minute animated television special in 1982 directed by Dianne Jackson and produced by John Coates, winning a BAFTA Award, and it frequently plays on seasonal television to this day.

The Snowman first appeared on stage at the Contact Theatre in Manchester in 1986, before being produced by the Birmingham Repertory Theatre for the first time in 1993. A West End premiere beckoned in 1997 at the Peacock Theatre.

Birmingham Repertory Theatre’s production is an essential part of London’s Christmas calendar. The Snowman features stunning choreography by Robert North to accompany unforgettable musical and lyrics by Howard Blake – including the timeless Walking In The Air.

Seen by audiences of over half a million at The Peacock, the show never fails to delight audiences young and old. A Christmas treat suitable for the whole family, and the perfect introduction to dance for theatre newcomers, book The Snowman tickets in the West End and see a show that will have you returning year after year.
