To Life – L’chaim! The iconic musical Fiddler On The Roof is back in the West End for a limited time only, playing until 2 November!

Transferring from the Menier Chocolate Factory after a successful (and sold-out) run, Fiddler On The Roof tickets have been in hot demand for performances at the Playhouse Theatre. Directed by the Olivier Award-winning and Tony Award-winning Trevor Nunn, this critically acclaimed production has proven a popular revival of the Broadway classic, having been the first production of the show on the London stage since May 2007.

Fiddler On The Roof tells the story of Tevye and his five daughters. Tevye’s Jewish faith means a lot to him, and even under difficult circumstances, he strives to maintain it. From his daughter’s choosing husbands who aren’t as traditionally Jewish as Tevye would like, to the Tsar evicting Jewish people from their village, Tevye has many battles to face. But his daughters’ unexpected choice in husbands starts to open up Tevye’s heart to new possibilities, and his close-knit community soon needs him.

Featuring the unforgettable score by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick, you’ll have to stop yourself singing along to classic lines from the show, with songs including Tradition, Matchmaker, Matchmaker, Sunrise, Sunset and If I Were A Rich Man. Add in Jerome Robbins’ original Tony Award-winning choreography, alongside new choreography by Matt Cole, and you’ll soon see that this production of Fiddler On The Roof unleashes a new life into one of the most beloved musicals of all time. Even the Playhouse Theatre is getting into the spirit of the show, transforming into an immersive space during the show’s run.

Starring as Tevye is Andy Nyman. Andy is an award-winning actor, director and writer who’s earned critical acclaim for his work across theatre, film and television. His previous theatre work includes Assassins, Abigail’s Party and the original production of Ghost Stories which he starred in, co-wrote and co-directed with Jeremy Dyson. Andy has also collaborated with Derren Brown for nearly 20 years, assisting with the writing and creation of six stage shows, one of which won the Best Entertainment Olivier Award in 2006.

Three-time Olivier Award winner Maria Friedman plays the role of Golde in the Fiddler On The Roof cast. A seven-time Olivier nominee, Maria has had a hugely successful theatrical career, including releasing several solo studio albums. Maria has also trodden theatre boards in the likes of The Woman In White, Chicago and Passion, and has directed Merrily We Roll Along at the Menier Chocolate Factory and in the West End to critical acclaim.

Playing the role of matchmaker Yente is Anita Dobson. Also an Olivier Award nominee, Anita is a highly acclaimed actress that’s well known for her TV, film and stage credits. She’s particularly loved for her portrayal of Angie Watts in Eastenders, one of the most popular characters on television. For this performance, Anita won the Pye award for Television Personality Of The Year, the Daily Mirror’s Actress Of The Year and the TV Times Actress Of The Year award, voted by the readers. No stranger to the West End, Anita has previously appeared in a range of roles including  Mama Morton in Chicago (Adelphi Theatre), Gertrude in Hamlet (New Ambassadors) and Mrs Meers in Thoroughly Modern Millie (Shaftesbury Theatre).
