Following the success of his number one best-selling non-fiction book, ex-Doctor and current comedy writer, Adam Kay, grips the Garrick Theatre with his smash-hit show, Adam Kay: This Is Going To Hurt (Secret Diaries Of A Junior Doctor).

Based on diaries from his time as a junior doctor in the NHS, This Is Going To Hurt covers everything from gruesome operations, memorable patients, embarrassing situations, and the work, dedication and sacrifices involved in working for the National Health Service. Adam’s anecdotes spanning several years on various labour wards will make you laugh, cringe, appreciate your doctor, and possibly never want kids.

His one-man show This Is Going To Hurt (Secret Diaries Of A Junior Doctor) was awarded five stars during its run at the Edinburgh Fringe 2016, 2017 and 2018, and it’s also enjoyed an acclaimed UK tour. It recently played a celebrated West End run at the Garrick Theatre, and now it’s at the Garrick Theatre, back for 2019 to have you cringing like never before.

Adam Kay is a British writer, comedian, and author. His writing credits include TV shows Crims, Mrs Brown’s Boys and Mitchell and Webb. He trained in medicine at Imperial College and was a junior doctor from 2004 to 2010. His best-selling book This Is Going To Hurt, which resulted from his show of the same name, has sold over half-a-million copies. It is being turned into an eight-part BBC series by Adam himself.

At the end of each show, copies of the book will be available to purchase, as well as the opportunity to get your book signed by Adam.

Hilarious, horrifying and heartbreaking, This Is Going To Hurt is a collection of tales from the frontline of one of the UK’s most valuable resources. It gives you a unique insight into a life so often glamourised and the people who are risking their own health to maintain yours.
