Wicked extends to April 2015

Published 31 January 2014

Hit musical Wicked will continue to entertain audiences with its tale about the origins of L Frank Baum’s iconic green-skinned witch until 25 April 2015 after extending its booking period at the Apollo Victoria Theatre.

The Oz-based musical’s extension means that there are now an additional 450,000 tickets available for the production that brings to life Gregory Maguire’s story about two sorcery students and how they end up as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Led by Willemijn Verkaik as Elphaba and Savannah Stevenson as Glinda, the current cast of the production also includes Jeremy Taylor, Sue Kelvin, Martyn Ellis, Paul Clarkson, Sam Lupton and Katie Rowley Jones.

Now approaching its 9th year in the West End, the enchanting tale has already been seen by more than five and a half million theatregoers since it premiered at the Apollo Victoria Theatre in September 2006.

Featuring music and lyrics by Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, the show has become well-known for its hit songs, which include Defying Gravity, The Wizard And I, For Good and Popular.

The musical, which won the BBC Radio 2 Audience Award at the Olivier Awards with MasterCard in 2010, is eligible for the public-voted award once again this year. To vote for your favourite long-running show visit the Olivier Awards website.

Wicked is also taking part in Get Into London Theatre, our annual ticket promotion that offers tickets to many of London’s hottest shows at incredible discounted prices. Visit the Get Into London Theatre website to book tickets before the campaign comes to a close on 13 February.
