TKTS celebrates award success

First Published 19 February 2013, Last Updated 20 February 2013

TKTS, Leicester Square’s famous ticket booth run by the Society of London Theatre (SOLT), has won the Society of Box Office Managers Award for Outstanding Customer Service for a second year running.

The award was sponsored by STAR (Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers) and voted for by the public after a call to nominate organisations or individual members who have gone “above and beyond” to help and demonstrated high levels of customer service.

The ticket outlet, which offers a variety of full price and discounted tickets for performances on the day and up to a week in advance, has been running since it opened in the iconic square in 1980 and prides itself on the knowledge and helpfulness of its staff.

As well as offering award-winning service, TKTS sets itself apart from many other ticket agents as all profits made are put back into the theatre industry with the ticket booth supporting a whole range of initiatives.

The award was announced at a ceremony held last night at Floridita restaurant in Soho. Jane Drakesmith, SOLT’s Head of Sales and Ticketing, commented on the win, saying: “I am very proud that the staff at TKTS have been recognised for their outstanding customer service. They are a strong and very positive team, and customer service is very important to everyone.  And the fact that the award has been given following on from a public vote makes it that much more valued.”
