Theatreland Walking Tours booking now open

Published 16 February 2009

Theatreland Walking Tours are now booking for 2009, with the first tour of the year taking place on 19 April. The experience will take you behind the grand exteriors of the theatres of the West End, to reveal the history and traditions of the world’s number one theatre district.

Due to popular demand there are 10 walking tours taking place in 2009 which will follow a different route from previous years. Covering a wide and varied area, the tours include the history of some of the West End’s most iconic theatres such as the London Palladium, Theatre Royal Haymarket and Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

As well as featuring interesting and important facts about the famous venues, the tour also includes numerous anecdotes about flamboyant actor managers, controversial playwrights and even a ghost story or two.

Lasting two hours, the tours take play on Sunday 19 April, 17, 31 May, 14, 21 June, 26 July, 30 August, 13, 27 September and 18 October and cost £8 per person.

Each tour has a maximum of 30 places available and can be booked by calling The Society of London Theatre on 020 7557 6700 or emailing walkingtours@solttma.co.uk. For more information, see our Events page.
