Takepart! in ENO’s summer school

First Published 17 April 2008, Last Updated 18 April 2008

English National Opera’s music theatre programme for young people, takepart!, is offering its first ever week-long summer school on 6-9 August.

Open to young people aged 11-16, the takepart! summer school offers the opportunity to participate in four days of intensive performance work, held at Marylebone School, leading towards a live show at the Cockpit theatre. Working with professionals, participants will create their own performance based around themes from Bizet’s opera Carmen, combining music, physical theatre and movement. After four days of preparation, the week culminates in a one-off performance of the show in a professional venue to a live audience, on 9 August.

There are no auditions for the takepart! summer school but those interested in applying should have some performing experience and lots of enthusiasm. For those who live or go to school in the borough of Westminster or Kensington & Chelsea the summer school is free (on submission of a returnable deposit). For all other applicants it costs £80. To apply, fill in an application form, obtained by ringing 020 7632 8484.
