Summer with Chickenshed

First Published 18 July 2008, Last Updated 21 July 2008

Chickenshed theatre company is holding two free artistic workshops for young people during the summer holidays.

Both courses are held on 28 July-1 August, with one course open to 8-12-year-olds and the other available to participants aged 13-19, from any London borough.

Designed to appeal to all ability levels, the courses are led by Chickenshed staff and offer participants the chance to get involved in music, dance and drama. At the end of the course there will be the opportunity to show off the work that has been developed to an invited audience of parents and friends.

The courses are being held at the Canada Villa Youth Centre and form part of Barnet Summer Universities. The summer universities scheme is a London-wide initiative which offers a range of summer courses for young people aged 8-25. Other theatres offering drama activities this year include the Roundhouse, Hampstead and Shakespeare’s Globe. More details on all the courses, including how to book, can be found on the Summer Universities website, www.summerunilondon.org.

Chickenshed is an inclusive theatre company which produces a programme of shows for young people as well as providing youth theatre workshops and education courses.
