Summer theatre course at Drill Hall

First Published 26 June 2009, Last Updated 1 July 2009

The Drill Hall is offering two youth theatre courses this summer.

The first, held from 27 to 31 July, is aimed at 11-14 year-olds from lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual families, and offers participants the chance to work together as a group to make a short piece of theatre to be presented to family and friends at the end of the week.

Auditions are not required, but enthusiasm for performing and hard work are a must.

Older teenagers can have their chance to shine on stage in a two-week course held from 27 July to 7 August. The course, open to anyone aged 16-19 who is interested in performing, involves performing theatre exercises, exploring improvisation, text, movement and voice skills, and looking at how different types of people are represented in modern drama and Shakespeare. The course culminates in the chance to perform in front of friends and family.

Group auditions for the 16-19 year-old youth theatre summer programme will be held on 5 and 12 July.

For more information and to apply for both courses, contact The Drill Hall on 020 7307 5060 or visit www.drillhall.co.uk.

Since opening in 1977, The Drill Hall has become the UK’s leading producer and presenter of lesbian and gay performance, with a mission to develop new audiences, provide opportunities for participation in the arts and support the development of unusual and daring theatre and performance.
