Sing with the Southbank Centre

First Published 19 April 2013, Last Updated 19 April 2013

The Southbank Centre has announced a special family singing workshop to take place as part of the venue’s annual Chorus Festival, which will be held over next month’s bank holiday weekend.

Running across the whole weekend, which this year falls from 4 to 6 May, the Chorus Festival opens the Southbank Centre’s summer-long Festival of Neighbourhood with a range of workshops, rehearsals and choral performers to celebrate choirs that bring together people from all backgrounds and communities to create music to inspire and move.

From the foyer to the venue’s iconic concert halls, the festival brings thousands of singers together every year and, for 2013, is aiming to inspire families in particular on Monday 6 May with The Monday Family Workshop, which will take place at 11:00 and 14:00.

Entitled Cries Of London, the workshop will teach participants songs from neighbourhoods far and wide and is open to everyone from children aged seven and older to grandparents. Led by experts Lea Cornthwaite and Suzi Zumpe, whether you’re seven or 77, no prior experience is required.

Visit the Southbank Centre’s website for more details and to book your place.
