Zach Atkinson will become the latest talented youngster to express himself on the Victoria Palace theatre’s stage when he joins the cast of Billy Elliot The Musical this evening, playing the role of Michael.

The 11-year-old from Manchester, who will alternate the role with current Michaels Joe Massey and Thomas Moore, said: “I feel extremely privileged to have been chosen to play the part of Michael and feel so proud to be a part of the fantastic cast of Billy Elliot The Musical. I am having the most amazing experience and can’t wait for my first performance tonight.”

Based on the Oscar nominated film, Billy Elliot The Musical, which has been seen by almost four million people during its eight years in the West End, tells the inspirational story of a young boy from a northern mining town who goes against his expected path in life to follow his dream of becoming a ballet dancer.

Brought to the stage by the film’s writer and director Lee Hall and Stephen Daldry, the musical features music by Elton John and choreography by Olivier Award winner Peter Darling.
