Mel Giedroyc and Denise Gough among star Nassim performers

First Published 31 August 2017, Last Updated 31 August 2017

Mel Giedroyc and Denise Gough are amongst the all-star cast announced for the Bush Theatre’s Nassim Plays season, which sees performers take to the stage with no prior preparation.

The former Bake Off host Giedroyc and Angels In America actress Gough will be joined in the plays’ London run by the likes of Dominic West, Meera Syal, Kate Fleetwood, Paterson Joseph, and Scottee.

The glamorous line-up also includes Tim Crouch, Hari Dhillon, Deborah Frances-White, Josie Lawrence, Andi Osho, Vinay Patel and Mark Thomas.

The cast members will each perform in a celebration of Iranian theatre-maker Nassim Soleimanpour’s work as part of a season which brings together four of his plays next month.

Soleimanpour’s shows famously require no rehearsals. Instead, cast members are provided with a sealed envelope containing a script that they read on stage for the first time.

The plays include Nassim, commissioned by the Bush Theatre, directed by Omar Elerian and a Fringe First winner at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe; international hit White Rabbit Red Rabbit; BLANK (Bush Theatre’s RADAR 2015 and Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016), and new play Cook, co-created by Soleimanpour and the Danish director Jesper Pedersen.

Bush Theatre Artistic Director Madani Younis said, “We’re thrilled to bring together all four of Nassim’s plays in a retrospective, supported by an array of exciting performers working across theatre, film and television.”

All four plays will play in repertory over two weeks from 7 – 16 September 2017.

You can book your tickets to shows in the Nassim Plays season through the Bush Theatre’s website.
