Haymarket launches new youth company

First Published 4 September 2009, Last Updated 7 September 2009

Young people aged 14 to 18 can get the chance to run a theatre company and produce a season of plays over the coming year as part of the new Theatre Royal Haymarket Youth Company.

Mirroring the set-up of the professional Theatre Royal Haymarket Company, the new youth company will allow 20 young theatre enthusiasts the opportunity to help create and produce a show to be performed on the stage of the Theatre Royal Haymarket, under the leadership of professional director Lloyd Wood.

All participants will be expected to get involved in all aspects of the production, from acting to producing, directing and technical duties. There is also the chance for six young people to join the company’s Board, which will work alongside Wood to market and budget for the productions, as well as helping plan the company’s long term aims.

The youth company is currently accepting applications for the first production in the season, details of which are yet to be announced. Applications should be received by 14 September and auditions will take place on 19 September.

Rehearsals for the production will be held every Saturday morning for eight weeks from 26 September, culminating in a performance on 28 November. A place in the company costs £250 for the term.

To apply, email alice@trh.co.uk for an application form or call 0207 389 9662.
